Illinois
Illinois is a state, which is considered as a state within the United Kingdom as the 21st state of USA. The word Illinois is actually pronounced as Ill–hu–Noy. It is the fifth populous state in the nation. It has a great agricultural productivity, in the central and western Illinois. It has also many natural resources like coal, timber and petroleum in the southern part of Illinois which are its power of life for its people. Capital of Illinois is Springfield, and its largest city is Chicago which is also a Metropolitan City.
If we see the Geographical location of Illinois, then we can see that its northeastern side is bordered by Lake Michigan and the eastern bordered by Indiana which is the land of Wabash River, on the other hand the north-south is the line above the Post Vincennes or the 87°031'030'' west longitude, bordering with Wisconsin in its northern part which is fix at 42°030' north latitude. While it’s western border is Missouri and Iowa and the Mississippi River. Southern border consists of Kentucky is the Ohio River. In 2008, Illinois has an estimated population of 12,901,563 which is increased by 3.9% from the year 2000.Religion of the mass population is Christianity which is 80%, Protestant 45%, 12% of Baptists, Lutheran and Methodists are 7% each, Presbyterians 3% ,where as other or general Protestants are 20%, Roman Catholic 30%, and the other religions are 21% approx total.
If we see a brief history of Illinois then we will see Cahokia the Urban centre of the pre-Colombian Mississippian culture was located near present day Collinsville Illinois. But, due to change of time that civilization vanished due to unknown reason. There were nearly 25,000 Illinois Indians in 1700, but, due to many attacks and genocide by Iroquois the population decreased enormously. The French Explorer Jacques Marquette and Louis Jolliet explored Illinois River in the year 1673.On the other hand, the other French explorers constructed a fort at the site of present day Peoria. The result of which is Illinois became the French Empire.
