Situated on the United States’ West Coast, California is a state that is guarded by Oregon, Arizona, Nevada and Baja California. The state of California is always teeming with activity because it is home to the four largest cities of America San Jose, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. The city attracts millions of people from all over the world and thus has a varied population as its climate. In terms of area also California is the third largest in America.

Till the early 18th century California was under the control of the Spanish and it was only during the mid 18th century that the country saw the light of freedom. The rich history of California shows us that it always had diverse population (in terms of culture and language) inhabiting it and the gold rush of 19th century completely changed the demographic and economic structure of this country. Soon, after the gold rush the whole economic scenario saw a huge transformation and there was huge influx of people from Canada and the other neighboring countries. The settlers put the resources of the country to its maximum use and soon California became the paradise for settlers.

Slowly but steadily the transportation system of the country, which was at its worst before in the late early 19th century, experienced revolutionary changes and the links with the eastern and the central part of America was established. People of the state soon found out that the fertile lands of California was best suited for the cultivation of frits and soon it became a hub of the agricultural activities. There was development throughout the state in terms of the economy and culture. Development of railroads and highways made it one of the most easily accessible states in the United States.

Hollywood was the best ting that could have happened to the state and this ensured that thousands of dreamers from around the world thronged the state to make their mark on the silver screen. The tinsel town attracted people who permanently settled in the state and added more diversity to the culture of the state.
The climate of the country is as varied as its population swinging between the sub arctic and Mediterranean. The summers are dry, but the winters are cool accompanied by light drizzles. The two most important river system of the state are San Joaquin River and Sacramento River and these are the major sources for round the year water supply of the state. The Colorado and the Klamath River also play an important part in the water supply of the state.
California is a republic and has a Governor of California as the head of the executive along with elected constitutional officers. It has a supreme court along with the lower courts in the Judicial System. The Assembly and the Senate form the legislative system of the state. It has its own armed forces that work during the emergency.
Education system of California is one of the best in the world and follows high quality teaching standards for the numerous university and high schools. The California state university is one of the famous universities of the world and has churned out some of the best brains of the world.
